This is one easy to make (but does take time) dessert that your entire family or party guests would really appreciate! It is sweet, rich and decadent! I like to make it in the spring and summer when we do a lot of entertaining here at our home & I always receive compliments from my dinner guests when I make and serve it to them.
Delicious Tiramisu Dessert Recipe
3 cups water
3 tablespoons honey
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup egg substitute
1/2 cup brewed espresso coffee
2 tablespoons orange extract
12 lady fingers, cut in half lengthwise
1/4 cup grated semisweet chocolate
confectioner's sugar *optional*
Bring water and honey to a boil in a saucepan over high heat. Reduce heat; simmer on low for 20 minutes. Remove from heat. Combine milk, cornstarch, cinnamon, cloves and salt in a large bowl. Slowly add milk mixture to the honey mixture, stirring until smooth. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, over medium heat. Remove from heat.
Pour egg substitute into a small bowl. Add 1/2 cup hot milk mixture to egg mixture, blending well. Stir egg mixture back into remaining milk mixture in saucepan. Cook over low heat for 2 minutes or until thickened. Cool for 15-20 minutes. Combine coffee with orange extract in another small bowl.
Arrange 6 lady fingers in a 1 1/2 quart serving bowl. Drizzle half the coffee mixture over the ladyfingers. Spread half the custard over the ladyfingers. Sprinkle with half the grated chocolate. Repeat layers, cover and refrigerate the Tiramisu for 2-3 hours before serving. Spoon into individual dessert bowls. Garnish with confectioner's sugar if desired.
